Swine Flu Updated Information from Oswego 308

PTA Swine Flu (H1N1) Resources and Information

President's Welcome

It is hard to believe the school year is almost over. Our last PTA meeting is on May 6th. We hope everyone can join us for a presentation from Senteos on electronic clickers for the Smart Board, Reflection Awards, Executive Committee elections (Treasurer - Noha Ayache, Correspondence Secretary - Tracy Olivas, Recording Secretary - Chris Gallagher, Vice President - Andrea Freveletti, Second Vice President - Rhonda Antoniolli, Third Vice President—Debb Kenworthy, President - Rhonda Jorgensen) and the ICE CREAM SOCIAL. Since we have a full agenda, this meeting will begin at 6:30 and activities will be provided in gym for children. Once the meeting is adjourned, the ice cream social will be held in the gym. We hope everyone can join us for an informative and fun night!

I'd like to take a moment and thank our fantastic Committee Chairs and volunteers for making the 2008-2009 school year very successful. I hope everyone who was able to attend the Volunteer Appreciation Night had a wonderful time. A big thanks to Andrea Freveletti for planning and organizing the event. It was a fantastic, fun-filled Beach Party. Please remember your time; no matter how large or small the amount, is truly appreciated and most of all it has a positive impact on a child.

THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF OUR TEAM!

Rhonda

A Letter From the Principal

Dear Wolf’s Crossing Families,

As the 2008-2009 school year draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity and personally thank you for your continued support for this great school. While Wolf’s Crossing Elementary is very fortunate to be staffed with highly dedicated teachers and supported by an exceptional support team and personnel, it is with your involvement in your student’s education that completes a truly successful learning environment. From your involvement in reading with your child at home, to providing an appropriate workplace for doing homework, to volunteering at school, being a chaperone on a field trip or being involved in the PTA, I sincerely appreciate the partnership that exists between home and school for the well being of our great students. That partnership is what truly creates a working school community. I have really enjoyed getting to know the students, parents and all of the members of the Wolf’s Crossing family during the past few months in my role as interim principal.

It has been a joy to watch and talk to the children as I visited classrooms throughout the school year. While each child has made great strides forward this past year, I would like to suggest that you keep the learning momentum going throughout the summer. Research has shown that most students lose about a month of progress during the summer break. You are your child’s most important teacher and you play a huge role in the continuing support to his/her learning over the summer. The following are 10 suggestions to help encourage the continuation of learning, in a fun and enjoyable way for the entire family:

  • Read daily
  • Write stories and illustrate them
  • Master number facts
  • Grow a garden
  • Exercise daily
  • Increase awareness of money
  • Explore what your town and other geographies have to offer
  • Have fun with music, singing and dancing
  • Invent word games
  • Create fun recipes

As we look forward to the last full month of school, we have so much to celebrate and many more things to accomplish. However, I am confident that the ending to this wonderful school year will only be the beginning to another great year.
Wishing you and your family a safe and fun filled summer.

Rene Garren
Interim Principal
